Contingency or Retained - Make An Informed Choice....
So why should I pay you an upfront fee when other recruiters I work with operate on a success only fee?
This is a question that I am asked frequently by potential clients so in an attempt to answer this I have tried to illustrate the main reasons below.
Contingency recruiters on average only fill 20% of the roles that they work on, so the emphasis here is speed and the reliance on internal databases and CV boards to find candidates. Do they really take time to map out the market and identify the top performing candidates that aren’t sat on a database or readily available? In reality the answer is no as they can’t afford to invest the time doing so on the vague hope that they might get paid somewhere down the line.
So where are the top performing candidates located? Typically they will working successfully for another organisation, not actively seeking a new role and the only way to access them is through a direct approach to gently coerce them in to considering a better opportunity elsewhere, as illustrated below.
